A triple-glazed double-cavity insulating glass unit (IGU) comprises three glass lites hermetically sealed at the perimeter with a high-strength composite sealant and spacer system containing a desiccant. The cavities are filled with dry inert gas to maintain internal dryness and suppress condensation.
Acoustically, the configuration delivers a 30–40 dB noise reduction, an improvement of roughly 25–33 % over standard glazing. When combined with thermal-break aluminium framing and appropriate wall and floor slab acoustic detailing, interior noise levels can be maintained below 35–40 dB.
Thermally, the units achieve a surface emissivity as low as 0.15, improving energy efficiency by limiting solar heat gain in summer and reducing conductive heat loss in winter. This lowers heating and cooling loads.
Optically, the glazing offers high visible light transmittance for daylighting while significantly reducing ultraviolet transmission, mitigating UV damage to interior finishes and furnishings.
