Xionggang’s borosilicate fire-rated glass is supplied in sheet sizes up to 4800 mm × 2440 mm and thicknesses from 5 mm to 15 mm, with intermediate dimensions available on request. Typically used as monolithic non-insulating fire-rated glass (integrity only, “E” class), it achieves a fire resistance rating exceeding 120 min. With a visible light transmittance (VLT) of 92%, it maintains visibility during a fire to aid evacuation and rescue.
The material weighs more than 10% less than ordinary glass while delivering high mechanical strength, helping to reduce structural dead load. It offers chemical stability and UV resistance. Because the composition contains no nickel, the finished glass is free of nickel sulphide (NiS) inclusions, eliminating the spontaneous-breakage risk associated with tempered glass. Before tempering, it can be cut, edge-worked, drilled and coated.
A high softening point and low thermal-expansion coefficient keep the glass dimensionally stable under fire exposure, forming a barrier against flame and smoke. It can also be laminated or fabricated into insulating glass units (IGUs) for combined fire resistance and energy-efficiency performance.
