Certification and product marking
Laminated insulating fire-rated glass (“EI” class, FFB composite type) must carry the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) mark. Each lite should also be legibly marked with its product structure type, nominal thickness, fire resistance class, and rated duration in minutes. Monolithic non-insulating fire-rated glass (integrity-only, “E” class, DFB type) is governed by different certification rules, so ensure the marking on the delivered lite matches the specification for the intended fire compartment.
Visual and dimensional inspection
Check surface flatness, colour uniformity, and visible defects such as bubbles, stones, or cracks. Verify thickness by measuring all four corners with callipers or a steel rule and averaging the results; the deviation must remain within the permitted tolerance. Stable dimensions and consistent thickness indicate controlled fabrication and reliable installation performance in curtain-wall or partition frames.
Documentation to request
Before purchase, ask for the CCC certificate, production licence, and CMA-accredited test report for the specific product batch. Confirm that the report covers the fire resistance rating in minutes, optical performance, and impact resistance, and that the values meet the project requirements. These certificates demonstrate that the glass has been tested by an authorised Chinese laboratory.
Supplier qualification
Select fabricators with established glass-processing lines, in-house quality-control systems, and valid national licences for the fire-rated products offered. Consistent traceability from raw float glass through heat treatment, laminating, and final inspection is essential for guaranteeing that every lite performs to the rated standard.
